Ascot Vale West Primary School serves about 200 families of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and family structures.
The school is committed to the improvement of student learning through innovative curriculum built on ‘best practice’ that focuses on the development of thinking and learning strategies required for life-long learning.
Students at all levels are encouraged to be actively engaged in their learning through the use of higher order thinking tools, to set personal learning goals and to assess their progress using structured criteria.
Students have an opportunity to participate in Art, Physical Education, Spanish and Information & Communication Technology sessions. They also take part in a well developed music program which includes instruction in singing and recorder. Some students also learn an instrument and participate in band through the Moonee valley Instrumental Music Program (MVIMP).
